Philadelphia Eagles defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson is known as one of the more vocal players in the NFL, and he lived up to that reputation following a Week 3 win against the New Orleans Saints.
A former Saint, Gardner-Johnson didn't mince words when asked about the matchup against his former team, going as far as to call the Saints "pretenders" while taking a shot at Saints quarterback Derek Carr.
Bridget Condon of NFL Network posted to X that she overheard Gardner-Johnson saying in the locker room, "They ain't no contenders they're pretenders, They have Derek Carr remember that."

Gardner-Johnson went on to say that he "keeps receipts" in reference to the Saints trading him prior to the start of the 2022 season.
"listen, we keep receipts... they got rid of me I ain't get rid of them," Gardner-Johnson said. "It's still in me. It's still tatted on me. I ain't worried."

After the game, he taunted the Saints secondary in reference to Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert, who had 10 catches for 170 yards against the Saints Sunday.
"Yall favorite DB’s couldn’t chase a TE down," Gardner-Johnson posted on X.

A 2019 fourth draft pick of the Saints, the team traded Gardner-Johnson to the Eagles for draft picks, and he's now back in Philadelphia after playing for the Detroit Lions in 2023.
