The Krewe of Troubadours topped even its own standard, which is pretty high, for the 71st Pageant and Ball on Saturday, Feb. 3. The extravagant affair was held at the Frem Boustany Convention Center in Lafayette.
Troubadours is known for its incredibly beautiful costumes and splendidly entertaining presentations. This one however was truly remarkable.
For starters, we cannot think of a more regal King Richard Coeur de Lion than His Majesty Wes Castille. Castille is a prominent businessman in Lafayatte and is well known for his accommodating manner.
Royalty runs in the Castille family. Castille’s lovely daughter, Emily, served as Queen in 2012, and her mother, Denise, has been active in the krewe for years.
The beautiful Queen Berengaria of Navarre, Olivia Topham, is also a longtime member of the krewe and her parents are Troubadours royalty. Her father, Michael, served as King in 2022. Her Mother, Dana, is a very active member of the krewe and spares nothing to make guests feel special.
This year’s theme, King Richard’s journey to Egypt, was enhanced by the exquisite costumes worm by the king and queen. What took our breath away was Queen Olivia’s gown — a gold and sparkling jeweled creation that would rival anything you might see on European royalty. Equally stunning were King Richard’s red, white, blue, and gold majestic robes.
We know the head costume designer James Morvant went above and beyond this year. We also know that this krewe is one that never fails to wow its guests and provide an enjoyable evening for all. Thank you Troubadours for allowing me to share in your Mardi Gras joy once again.
