A New Roads police officer has been arrested, accused of first-degree rape of a child, Pointe Coupee Sheriff Rene Thibodeaux said.
The Pointe Coupee Sheriff's Office was asked by the New Roads Police Department to investigate allegations involving one of its officers, Thibodeaux said in a text interview.
As a result of the investigation, Kedreyon Williams was booked Saturday by the Sheriff's Office on counts of first-degree rape of a child under age 13, first-degree rape armed with a dangerous weapon, indecent behavior with a juvenile and pornography involving a juvenile.
New Roads Police Chief Cedrick Epps could not be reached for additional comment Sunday.
Thibodeaux said the investigation is ongoing.
