A former LSU Athletics operations manager was arrested over the weekend for breaking into the Tiger Park softball stadium early Saturday and stealing cash, police said.

The former employee, Brett Parichan, was taken into custody after admitting to LSU police that he stole drinks and snacks, an arrest warrant says.

But later that day, LSU's head softball coach told police that cash was missing from her office, according to the warrant. With a search warrant in hand, an LSU police officer on Sunday found $1,000 in cash in an LSU envelope in Parichan's black Suzuki Equator truck, which was still parked at the stadium, authorities said.

The burglary was discovered after LSU police officers working an overtime assignment near Tiger Park Saturday reported seeing Parichan "hop over a wall ... to gain access to the interior of the park" at about 1:20 a.m.

When officers talked to Parichan as he left the softball stadium, he told them he worked for the LSU athletics department and had gone to the park to "grab some items," arrest documents say.

As the investigation continued, Parichan admitted "he was not currently an employee and knowingly entered Tiger Park to steal drinks and snacks," the documents say.

Parichan was then booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of simple burglary.

Later on Saturday, though, LSU's head softball coach told the university's police department that an envelope containing cash was missing from her office. She said she watched security camera footage and discovered Parichan had been in her office, the affidavit said.

Studying surveillance video and officer body camera footage, LSU police saw Parichan had put an item into his truck before turning to face the officers who had approached him outside Tiger Park. That led to the discovery of the cash in the truck, the affidavit said.
