Southern University is offering more benefits than ever to select members of the S Club.
Beginning this year, S Club members who sign up for the Gold or Platinum tier will receive two tickets for access to a hospitality area to watch all Southern Jaguars home football games, as well as sideline passes to watch the team during pre-game warmups. The Gold and Platinum tiers also include an invitation to the S Club Homecoming Tailgate Party, annual tax deduction and a quarterly newsletter. The Platinum tier also includes the opportunity to name a football locker.
The S Club Gold Tier is $2,500 annually. The S Club Platinum Tier is $5,000 annually. Proceeds benefit the more than 400 Southern student-athletes who participate in one or more of the 18 sports offered on campus.
Phil Smith, director of the S Club, said those resources for student-athletes include support for strength and conditioning, nutrition, counseling, academic needs and more.
“There are so many things happening in the lives of student-athletes,” he said. “It’s incumbent upon us to provide those resources and also take our teams to the next level. The whole goal is to support the student-athletes here at Southern University.”
The ultimate goals of the S Club include an improved overall student-athlete experience, increased fundraising contributions, more scholarship and NIL opportunities and optimizing athletic facilities on campus.
Smith said the hospitality area will be located in the south end zone at A.W. Mumford Stadium, often known as Jaguar Den. There will be grandstand-style seating, air conditioning, food and beverages. Attendees will also have close access to other fans and the action on the field.
“It’s going to be an experience much like at a PGA Tour event or Formula One race, starting with the first game of the season,” Smith said.
Smith added that the grandstand seating access is just the first of many new features slated for the S Club.
“We want to become the premier funding organization for Southern University Athletics,” he said.
The S Club has five total tiers – True, Blue, Silver, Gold and Platinum. The S Club is perfect for business professionals, community advocates, foodies, SU graduates, emerging leaders and anyone else who wants to support Southern Jaguars sports.
