Since opening last year, Lafayette's first food truck park has provided a centralized space for foodies to gather and try a diverse range of options from local chefs.

Food truck businesses serving up items such as bao buns, egg rolls, noodles, Creole plate lunches, wings, sno-balls and more all park regularly at Parc De Oaks on Moss Street, where the variety of cuisines available forces a tough choice on hungry customers: What to try first?

Parc De Oaks owners Chris and Andrea Amos decided to make that choice easier with the introduction of a new sample box, to feature menu items from five businesses. Parc Sampler boxes will be available for sale on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Saturday.

Chris Amos says they plan to see how the first weekend of sales goes and will likely run the special about once a month, featuring different food trucks each time. The first Parc Sampler box will feature these items: any egg roll from Nina Creole; a Korean fried chicken bao bun from Bayou Bao Co.; Crack Wings from Southern Kreole; a wonton taco from Noodlehead, and an Italian ice cup from Rockin' Ice.

"We were thinking about how to give people the option to try something at a truck they normally wouldn't try," Amos said. "It's a new concept I've never seen before, and everybody can benefit."

Customers can purchase a Parc Sampler wristband for $26, which will allow them to visit the five participating trucks and pick up that truck's item.

"We'd like to keep the idea fresh and new with different seasonal samplers," he said.

On top of introducing the Parc Sampler, Parc De Oaks is getting ready to host its biggest event of the year — the October pumpkin patch. The patch will be open for pictures, activities and pumpkin sales starting the weekend of Oct. 11, and will run for three weeks.

The Parc Sampler box will be available starting lunchtime at Parc De Oaks food truck park at 3302 Moss St., in Lafayette.
