Board-certified and fellowship-trained plastic surgeon Dr. Aadit Patel has joined North Oaks Surgical Associates in Hammond.
Patel, certified by the American Board of Surgery in general surgery, comes to North Oaks from the Tulane University/Ochsner Clinic Plastic Surgery Residency program in New Orleans. Drawing upon his expertise in reconstructive surgery, he will work closely with the North Oaks Breast Care Program team to help patients navigate the challenges of diagnosis, treatment, recovery and support if cancer is discovered, a news release said.
Originally from Los Angeles, Patel graduated from the University of California in Los Angeles with a bachelor’s degree in history before earning a master’s degree in physiology and biophysics from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. During his undergraduate years, he worked as a health policy analyst and writer for the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices, as well as a public policy researcher for UCLA Center for American Politics and Public Policy and research assistant for the UCLA Neuromuscular Research Laboratory.
After graduating magna cum laude with his medical degree from St. George’s University/Northumbria University in Grenada, West Indies, he completed a residency in general surgery through Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. As a general surgery resident, he continued to fuel his passion for investigation and analysis by engaging in a research-based fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
North Oaks Surgical Associates has locations in Tangipahoa and Livingston parishes. The Hammond clinic is in Suite 108B of North Oaks Office Plaza at 15770 Paul Vega MD Drive on the North Oaks Medical Center campus in Hammond. The Livingston clinic is in Suite 210 of North Oaks-Livingston Parish Medical Complex, 17199 Spring Ranch Road in Livingston. Clinic hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
