The New Orleans Pelicans have filled their final roster spot.

The Pelicans are signing Javonte Green — an athletic 6-foot-5, 220-pound wing — to a one-year deal.

The 31-year-old Green was previously with the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls. In 122 games with Chicago, Green averaged 6.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 0.9 steals per game. He is a capable defender who gives New Orleans depth at forward.

In an April game against the Washington Wizards, Green scored 24 points and snatched seven rebounds.

Pelicans coach Willie Green likes to push his players to generate turnovers and score in transition. Green excels playing uptempo basketball.

Green's signing pushes the Pelicans to $3.8 million above the NBA's luxury tax line.

The Pelicans will begin training camp Oct. 1 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Their first regular-season game is Oct. 23 against the Bulls.
