A Baton Rouge man accused of being in a group of masked robbers who held up two Dollar General stores at gunpoint in four days was sentenced to 6¼ years in federal prison.

As part of his guilty plea, Tyler Dunn, 23, admitted to being one of four masked men who entered the Dollar General at 4755 Prescott Drive on Nov. 17, 2019 and brandished handguns, according to a news release from the Department of Justice.

One of the robbers walked up to a cashier, pointing a handgun at them. The robber then jumped over the register and took money from the safe, the release said. While the robbery was taking place, Dunn forced an employee to move from the back of the store to the front while pointing a handgun at her.

Four days later, Dunn was again among four armed and masked robbers who approached two Dollar General employees at 6365 Scenic Highway as they were getting ready to lock the store's security gate.

The robbers brandished their guns, forcing the employees to open the door and allow them to enter. One robber pointed a handgun at an employee and forced them to turn off an alarm.

About $7,000 and $1,200 were obtained in the respective robberies, according to the release.

Dunn was convicted with interference with commerce by robbery and sentenced to 6¼ years, or 75 months, in federal prison with three years of supervised release.
