LSU wide receiver Chris Hilton (3) catches a pass on the field to assist in warm-ups before kickoff against USC on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Hilton did not play.

LSU football redshirt junior wide receiver Chris Hilton will play in Saturday's matchup between the Tigers and UCLA, coach Brian Kelly said during his radio show Thursday.

"We’re going to get him on the field, but this is going to be like getting a toe in the water," Kelly said.

Hilton has missed the first three games of the season with a bone bruise in his ankle. LSU's plan is for Hilton to increase his playing time gradually over the next few weeks, Kelly said.

Kelly also mentioned Thursday that senior defensive tackle Jalen Lee will be out against the Bruins with a shoulder injury, and that senior linebacker West Weeks is questionable to play.

Redshirt sophomore safety Jordan Allen and sophomore edge rusher Da'Shawn Womack, who both missed last week's matchup against South Carolina, were not mentioned by Kelly in Thursday's injury report.

Without Hilton, LSU has relied on redshirt sophomore Aaron Anderson, junior Zavion Thomas, redshirt freshmen Kyle Parker and Shelton Sampson at wide receiver alongside senior CJ Daniels and fifth-year senior Kyren Lacy.

Hilton was one of the Tigers' top receivers during preseason practices, but LSU's offense has still averaged 33.3 points and 302.3 yards through the air despite his absence.
