A Lafayette native's hair accessory has gone viral after accidentally resonating with the drivers of New Orleans.
Accessory designer Colette Bernard originally made traffic cone hair claw clips for a target audience of engineers, construction workers and driving instructors, according to an Instagram post.
However, the accessory took on a whole new meaning once lookathisf------street — a popular Instagram meme page that focuses on streets and sidewalks in New Orleans — shared Bernard's design on their account.
The hair clip has become a rather satirical piece that pokes fun of the Crescent City's rocky streets that are often littered with orange cones, yet remain flawed for months on end.
Now, Bernard's sales from New Orleans have skyrocketed.

The artist has other bestseller hair clips that represent specific careers, with designs like a prescription bottle, a bloody wisdom tooth and an anatomical heart.
Bernard also sells other accessories, including blankets, scarves, pins and stickers.
Her designs have garnered attention on TikTok, Instagram and other social media platforms, according to her website. In 2023, Bernard opened her first brick and mortar gift shop, Cocodrie by Colette, in Lafayette, showcasing her work and the work of other artists and designers.
